Komi Olaf is an emerging Visual Artist and poet, born in Kaduna Nigeria. His love and obsession with art and self expression from an early age led him to study Architecture at Carleton University in Ottawa. After receiving his Master of architecture degree in 2009 , he made a career change and began to build on the painting skills he had acquired from a workshop offered at the university. To further his understanding, Komi also completed an Artist instructor program with the Royal conservatory of Music in 2014 where he learned to integrate the skills acquired as a self taught artist into school curriculums in Canada.

Working in the emergent tradition of Afro-futurism, Komi Olaf’s surrealistic art and poetry bridges cultural divides and speaks of the immigrant’s perspective, bringing together disjunctive images with perfect unity in a playfully profound vision of a futuristic Diaspora. He pushes his art in wondrous directions, immersing his realistically portrayed characters in mysterious dream worlds of splendor and soul. Serving as a witness to the persistence of beauty within a turbulent world, he develops powerfully complex connections allowing his zeal for life to fuel his creative energies. Komi currently resides in Toronto, Canada and is committed to producing work that communicates art, architecture and poetry.
