Pierrot Ross-Tremblay is a professor at the Institute of Indigenous Research and Studies, University of Ottawa. His research focuses on cultural memory and oblivion, and First peoples' ancestral sovereignties and effective self-determination. His book, Thou Shalt Forget: Indigenous Sovereignty, Resistance and the Production of Cultural Oblivion in Canada was published in 2019 at the University of London Press, UK. Nipimanitu (L’esprit de l’eau), his first poetry book, received the Indigenous Voices Awards 2019 for best poetry book in French (ex-aequo with Joséphine Bacon, Ueish).
